List Of Must-have Welding Tools And Their Uses

Ultrasonic Welding Machines

If you’re starting with welding, then you must have a set of at least the essential equipment and safety gears. However, if you’re new to welding, we would recommend you to first complete your basic training in it. Doing this will help you in learning how to weld and also understand the safety requirements.

Here’s a list of essential welding tools and their uses:

Welding Tools

Welding Clamps: An absolute must-have welding tool for all welders. These welding clamps allow you to set up your workpiece firmly, so the welding can be done to create a tight joint. You must know, without a metal clamp, the project may get thrown out of the square -- creating welding defects.

Welding Magnets: Using welding magnets can help you in keeping your metal pieces at different angles, such as 45, 60, 90 or other. They are also available in various sizes.

Angle Grinder: It’s one of the essential tools to have for prepping and finishing your welds. Before you begin with your welding, you can use the angle grinder to remove paint, dirt, or rust from the surface of the workpiece.

Metal Brush: if your welding process generates a lot of slags, you’ll need a metal brush. To reveal the final weld, you’ll need to use the metal brush to scrape off that slag coating.

Note: The ultrasonic welding equipment is different, but the personal safety equipment for any type of welding process will almost remain the same.

Personal Safety Equipment

Welding Shoes: a good pair of welding shoes help protect your feet during the welding process. You must ensure that they aren’t made from any synthetic materials, as it can catch fire. Leather made shoes are anytime the best choice.

Gloves: Welding gloves are exceptionally thin and made up of more flexible material with fire-resistant fabric.

Safety Glasses: they’re necessary for the protection of welder’s eyes from flying debris or sparks. The glasses must have non-tinted clear lenses.

Ear protection: Many a time, welding can be a loud operation and require an intense level concentration as well. Having earplugs can help you in maintaining your focus by eliminating all external noises.

Even if you’re into other types of welding, there are a varied type of welding equipment available in the market. You can even find a plastic welding kit for ultrasonic plastic welding.
